Amanda Jackson, AAHCC
My name is Amanda Jackson and I am happy you’re here. Here are a few tidbits about me…
I am married to Joe, my incredible husband of ten years. He is my perfect complement; he makes me stronger & laugh more every day. He supports my passion 100% and takes on all the extra family duties when I am away at a birth – without one complaint.
We have three amazing living children and one waiting on us in heaven. We love being parents and they definitely keep us on our toes – the beautiful-messy balancing act of parenthood and daily life. My heart swells with pride when I think of them and it is wonderful watching them grow – although way too fast! When I am not teaching class or attending a birth, I love spending time with my family – exploring outdoors, reading books, playing make-believe, watching movies, sports practices and games, doing school work & activities and having those not-frequent-enough date nights with my husband.
All in all, when I think of my family, I am so thankful. They are my world!
I LOVE birth and babies and everything related! ...but it wasn't always that way. Okay, I've always loved babies. But as for birth, I was clueless. In fact I never even heard of The Bradley Method® or of the word “doula” before I became pregnant with my first child. Fast forward several years - I not only know what those things are but I am those things...and I couldn't be happier. Here’s how it started….
When I was pregnant with my first child in 2009 I was overjoyed about becoming a mom… but also filled with fear about labor and birth. Through my chiropractor, I learned about The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth classes and signed up. After taking the classes, I was amazed at how much my husband and I learned and how prepared we felt. I no longer had lingering fears and I surprisingly became excited about my upcoming birth! Because of our preparation, our birth experience was transformed into something I could not have imagined. Although my labor was long and by far the hardest thing I had ever done, it was also the most meaningful and exhilarating experience I have ever had. It was breathtaking pulling up my son up and holding him against me for the first time and crying tears of joy. It was the greatest bonding experience between my husband and me that I will never forget and always hold deep in my heart.
After my experience, I could not wait to become a Bradley Method® Instructor and Doula and teach others what we had learned. I received my certification and now have the honor and joy of teaching birth classes and attending births. I am thankful for each new student, client or couple that trusts me to take part during this special time in their lives.
In the years of teaching and attending labors, many couples have poured their gratitude over me with genuine hearts of joy. But I tell you, I am the fortunate one. I get to repeatedly witness the miracles of babies growing, see couples come together as they prepare to welcome their babies and finally, see babies take their first breaths and stare into their parents’ eyes for the first time. In this amazing beauty, I watch parents tear up as they join the community of parenthood. Wow, how my heart is full. I love what I do. I hope to help many more families in the years to come!
