Amanda Jackson, AAHCC

Hello!

My name is Amanda Jackson and here are a few tidbits about me…

Lover of coffee, dark chocolate, predictable rom-coms, and all things Hallmark. I am a tender-hearted soul, and I feel and love deeply.

I was married in 2006 and started a family in 2010. We now have four amazing living children and one waiting on us in heaven. I love being a mom and all the ups and downs that come with the beautiful-messy balancing act of parenthood. Between homeschooling, sports activities, and playing make-believe, there is never a dull moment in our home.

The saying "the days are long, but the years are short" has never been more true since becoming a mother.

My Story

I love babies and birth and everything related! ...but it wasn't always that way. Okay, I've always loved babies. But as for birth, I was clueless. In fact I never even heard of The Bradley Method® or of the word “doula” before I became pregnant with my first child. Fast forward several years - I not only know what those things are but I am those things...and I couldn't be happier. Here’s how it started….

When I was pregnant with my first child in 2009 I was overjoyed about becoming a mom… but also filled with fear about labor and birth. Through my chiropractor, I learned about The Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth classes and signed up for the series. After taking the classes, I was amazed at how much we learned and how prepared we felt. I no longer had lingering fears and I surprisingly became excited about my upcoming birth! Because of our preparation, our birth experience was transformed into something I could not have imagined. Although my labor was long and by far the hardest thing I had ever done, it was also the most meaningful and exhilarating experience I have ever had. It was incredible pulling my son up and holding him against me for the first time, crying tears of joy while also being in complete awe at him and this miraculous experience. I will forever cherish those first memories.

After that experience, I could not wait to become a childbirth instructor and doula. I received my certification and embarked on this new adventure soaking in and learning as much as I could, completely different from the desk job in accounting I had at the time. I now teach classes and attend births regularly & I sometimes pinch myself thinking, "wow, I get to do this".

Over the years of teaching and attending births, many couples have poured their heartfelt gratitude over me. But I tell you, I consider myself the lucky one. Time and time again, I witness the miracles of babies growing, couples coming together, and precious babies taking their first breaths, soon after to stare into their parents’ eyes for the first time. Wow, how my heart is full. I love what I do and I hope to help many more families in the years to come!
